His Silent Republic novels are set in the ruins of Eastern Europe, rooted in his Polish heritage and a lifelong fascination with survival, collapse and Cold War echoes. The Bastion Chronicles take the same instinct somewhere warmer and stranger: a zombie apocalypse in Austin, Texas, narrated entirely by a cat who considers the whole thing beneath him.
When he's not writing, Alex rides motorcycles through forgotten roads and gets lost in story-driven games like STALKER, Metro and Fallout.
